Example from John
Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.John 15:4
In the final Gospel of the New Testament, the book of John, Jesus delivers a series of profound “I AM” statements. Among them is a metaphor that carries profound implications for leaders – the vine and the branches, found in John 15:4. Let’s delve into this analogy and uncover how it holds the key to becoming better leaders in our daily walk.

The Vine, the Gardener, and the Branches
Breaking down this parable, we encounter three essential components: the garden (God the Father, the creator), the vine (Christ), and the branches (us). Drawing parallels to a grocery store grape bundle, we observe the vitality of the branches’ connection to the vine for fruitfulness.
Alone vs. Connected
Attempting to navigate life alone, like grapes disconnected from the vine, may yield temporary success. However, true longevity and resilience come from remaining connected to something greater than ourselves. The risk of disconnection exposes us to struggles such as depression, addiction, or sin. Leaders, like Elon Musk, may achieve earthly success but still stand before the same Creator.
The Call to Leaders
Recognizing the need to stop, invite Jesus into every aspect of our lives, and identifying areas of separation from the vine are crucial for leaders. The battle to reconnect is both simple and challenging – talk to Him, read His Word, engage with fellow believers, join a local church, and share your faith. As sons and daughters of the King, staying connected to the Vine positions us to produce impactful fruit for the Kingdom.
John 15:4 extends a profound invitation to leaders – remain in Christ to bear lasting fruit. The journey involves recognizing our need for connection, inviting Jesus into our lives, and actively pursuing reconnection when we drift. As leaders, our strength lies in staying tethered to the Vine, ready to produce fruit that makes a tremendous impact for the Kingdom.
