Welcome to the Lion Within Us, a podcast, sermon Christian man who are hungry to be the leaders they’re predestined to be. I’m your host, Chris Grainger, Les jump in our guys for this week. Your spiritual kickoff. We’re going to be in the book of Matthew. We’ll look at chapter 13, verse 44. The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field.
When a man. He hit it again. And then in his joy went it’s so all he had and bought that field gas is a great scripture. So it’s a pretty impactful scripture. And then we’re going to look, we’re going to unpack it a little bit here on this spiritual kickoff. The first of all, where’s Matthew, again, we need to know, we need to know where he’s books are.
So Matthew is the first gospel of the new Testament. So depending on how big your Bible is, Matthew is maybe like a two thirds the way. But it’s against a first book of the new Testament. Okay. So you should be able to go there, check this out. Now this parable is actually, usually it’s covered in pairs.
Okay. As usually this parable is put together as the hidden treasure parable, it’s usually put together with the Pearl. Okay. So verses 45 through 46 next verses talk about pearls, but both of the parables, as you’re talking about the in comparable value of the. Okay. Nothing is worth more and nothing too great to sacrifice.
The kingdom. So thank like for this one, natural, you think the treasure hunters, right? You have, by my wife, she wants just, this showed a like cursive Oak Allen or something like that. And these guys are out there every week they’re trying to find this hidden treasure and even mud the guys that Jace Roberson, he has a new show coming. I think it’s called duck family treasure, and they’re out there. They’re hunting treasure doing treasure hunting. They’re seeking, what’s lost. And it’s very relatable. We want us to seek stuff, but I want you to think about this parable in a different context.
Okay. What a guy working in this field. What if he worked this field every year of his life, and then suddenly he dug a little deeper with that plow and he found this. Think of it that way, because that may be God wanting, he wants to have a relationship with you. He really wants that. He seeking you.
So maybe baby, this guy he’s out there working in his field. And finally that plow goes just in the right spot and it on covers that beautiful treasure. Now the Pearl parable, that makes me think that personally, I think more about the. Who are actively seeking him. So let’s look at real quick.
The Pearl says again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking bond pearls, and upon finding one Pearl of great value, he went out and sold it. He had and bought it. This guy was seeking. He was searching both though leads you to the kingdom. But look at what he cost every. It cost everything in our material driven world.
How hard is that? Think about like this, if it meant selling your smartphone, would you do it, would you act to get to the kingdom of heaven you had to sell your smartphone? You never could touch your iPhone again. Would you do it pan notice convicting for me that dimension now I forget what level I’m all on two blasts, but that’s convicting.
I care, but seriously, but you need to consider it a joy at this parable, both of them that they lead us to true joy in life cannot be found on earth, but in king Jesus all, that’s it. So whether you’re stumbling across a treasure or you’re finding pearls, you’re actively seeking to find the pearls either way they lead you back to the decision you gotta make.
What does that decision? How am I going to live my life? And who am I going to follow? And you mean I’m not following anybody. Yeah if you make that decision, you’re following yourself, you’re choosing yourself. We all make decisions, we’re all going bowel or something. Maybe it’s just our own desires, our own flesh, but as a Christian leader, and I know you are, you need to follow him and yeah.
Think about what that commitment means. What does that commitment to Christ? What does, what is it going to cost? Has it, does their commitment to Christ? Does it influence your decisions that you make in your life right now? And what would you be willing to sell it? The sale to gang, the kingdom and the king bank.
Do the things guys. These parables are beautiful. They’re simple, but they’re deep. And I need you to gasoline in it. Think about this. What in your life? If the kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field and when he found it, he hid it again. And his joy sold. Oh yeah. Ed and Paul dare feel, cause he didn’t want to miss it.
He wanted a habit. That’s how bad he wanted. You need to have that hunger for Jesus. How often are you opening right here? God’s word. How often is it? Are you expecting the church to be the only way you grow as a Christian? You’re mistaken. If you are, there’s too many opportunities to grow outside of the church, the guys that takes action on your behalf, the allow within us is a part of that just by being a listener and being out here, we’re serving you, you are growing, but it’s not just us.
You have to take action on your own. So here’s a question, gas. What do you think about where are you going? Where have you gone all in and your life? Because this week we’re going to be talking about what it looks like to go all in on Wednesday on a big episode this week, we’ll have a guest that he’s going to be challenging.
Our thinking that what going all in actually looks. And gas. He did. He went all into the point. He almost lost his life, serving our country. He got bought up by frankly, but Dan, you wait till you hear the story about what he’s done since it’s going to inspire, it’s going to courage. It’s going to light up fire.
Cause we need strong Christian men standing up going all in every way. Not being ashamed, being proud being, just obeying what guy’s calling us to do. He’s calling me to the line with Dennis to share these messages. But you know what, when this mic is not hot, he’s watching what I say, just as much as he is when his mic is hot.
He’s challenging me to lead my family in my community. My word. He’s likely challenging you to the same thing. Step in. You could do this, you got it. You have to, and I want you to be joyful about it. So go all in gas, shared us out with others. That’s your spiritual kickoff. Go ahead and hit that up. Check out the Bible study.
