There’s something special about this time of year.
Starting November 1st, you can feel it — people start decorating, singing, baking, planning travel, and filling their homes with the sights and sounds of Christmas.
It’s a time when joy fills the air, movies play on repeat – where are my Griswold family advocates – (and yes, Die Hard absolutely qualifies as a Christmas movie — you’re welcome), and memories are made around tables and trees.
But as much as I love all the Christmas traditions, I’ve learned how easy it is to miss the point.
As leaders of our homes, it’s tempting to make the season all about comfort, gifts, and good times — but if we’re not careful, we can overlook the greatest gift of all – Jesus.
Here’s something worth considering – our families are watching us, especially now, to see what we truly value. And what we value isn’t revealed by what we say — it’s shown by what we do.
We may walk around saying “Remember the reason for the season,” but how are we demonstrating that truth?
Please hear my heart when I say I’m not here to guilt-trip anyone. I’m here to encourage you — to remind you of the incredible opportunity you have to lead your home with purpose this Christmas.
Because here’s the truth:
On December 25th, we celebrate that Jesus saw the brokenness of the world and chose to come dwell among us — fully man and fully God — to give us a path to salvation and perfect union with Him. Nothing Amazon can deliver will ever compare to that fundamental truth.
And brother, it’s our job — not a pastor’s, not special Christmas services — to make sure our families know why we celebrate. You are already equipped with everything you need to lead spiritually right where you are, don’t question that for a second.
So as we head into Christmas week, my prayer for you is this:
That you stay encouraged.
That you refuse to abdicate your responsibility to lead your home well.
That your joy overflows and your faith shines bright.
Christmas is worth fighting for — and your leadership makes all the difference.
Keep leaning in.
Keep showing up.
And keep unleashing the Lion Within.
