When Pastor Joby Martin said those words it hit like a thunderclap.
The room went quiet — because deep down, every man knew he was right.
The modern church is overflowing with men who love Jesus but live spiritually neutered lives. We’ve traded conviction for comfort, leadership for laziness, and boldness for passivity. The enemy doesn’t even need to take us out — we’re doing it to ourselves by staying silent.
That’s what Pastor Joby was calling out. That’s what the Lion Within Us was born to fight against.
He reminded us how God formed Adam differently — from the dust, with His own breath. Men were made for movement, adventure, and holy responsibility. We were born for the wilderness, not the couch. And yet, too many of us are sitting idle while our homes, marriages, and faith are under attack.
When God called Adam, Adam hid.
When the serpent deceived Eve, Adam said nothing.
Silence has always been one of man’s greatest sins.
It’s still happening today. We’re surrounded by men who avoid the hard conversations, outsource spiritual leadership to their wives, and hide behind busyness instead of stepping into battle.
Brothers — that’s not strength. That’s surrender.
At that conference, God whispered something into my spirit: “You are a prophet.”
Not in the mystical sense — but as a truth-teller. That’s what the Lion Within Us is about: raising up men who speak truth in a world built on lies.
But that’s just one part of the calling. Every man of God carries six identities when he’s walking in step with the Holy Spirit:
- Prophet – The truth-teller who declares God’s Word and direction.
- Priest – The intercessor who covers his family in prayer and spiritual leadership.
- Servant – The humble heart who leads by example, not ego.
- King – The wise steward who governs his home and decisions with righteousness.
- Provider – The diligent worker who meets needs and creates stability.
- Protector – The warrior who stands guard over his marriage, children, and faith.
You don’t have to be perfect in these — you just have to be present. When we fully submit to the Holy Spirit, He gives us the discernment to know which one to rise up in for the moment we’re in.
This isn’t about finger-pointing or shame. It’s not about blaming culture or the church.
It’s about owning the responsibility God has given us.
If the home is broken, men must lead the healing.
If the church is silent, men must find their voice.
If the world is lost, men must step forward with truth and love.
That’s the call. That’s the fight.
It’s time to stop checking your manhood at the door.
The church doesn’t need passive men who clap quietly from the back row. It needs warriors — men who pray hard, lead well, and love deeply.
You are a prophet.
You are a priest.
You are a servant.
You are a king.
You are a provider.
You are a protector.
And when you live out those callings, the enemy doesn’t stand a chance.
So, take off the spiritual mask. Stand firm. Act like a man of God.
