Finding Hope in Life’s Temporary Struggles
I can honestly say I’ve never slept well in a tent. I’m not saying I never sleep, but a night of restful bliss has never happened in any tent I’ve stayed in. Maybe if I had one of those magical tents from Harry Potter, things would be different. But in my experience, they’re always too cold or too hot, and every movement creates an amplification of sound that disrupts any chance of rest I might hope for.
That’s why 2 Corinthians 5:4 resonates so deeply with me—the very thought of tents makes me groan anyway! But I love the simplicity and connection of Paul’s message, especially for us as leaders who have surrendered our lives to Christ. Paul openly acknowledges that we should expect burdens and struggles on this side of heaven. That’s simply part of the fallen world we live in.
The reality is that sin fractured what was once perfect with God, and anything this side of heaven will be challenging at best. Then comes the crucial “but” in this passage, where Paul paints a picture of our hope: a heavenly dwelling. Imagine upgrading from a ragged, old pop-up tent to the Biltmore Estate in the blink of an eye.
That truth encourages me to keep leaning in, enduring the “tent” He has provided, and looking forward to the day when we will be with Him in glory.
