The 3 Words That Take Most Men Out

Let me ask you something—what are three words that consistently knock guys off course?

Here they are: “I got this.”

I’m telling you, those words have taken me out more times than I can count. Maybe you’ve been there too. Life starts pressing in, and instead of slowing down and seeking God, we grit our teeth, tighten our grip, and try to power through on our own strength.

That’s why I resonate so much with Peter.

He was bold. A leader. Loud. And—let’s be honest—he made some pretty epic mistakes. But Peter also listened, learned, and grew. Eventually, he penned these powerful words in 1 Peter 5:6:

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you at the proper time.”

That verse hits hard for men like us. Peter had to learn that humility isn’t weakness—it’s alignment. It’s not thinking less of yourself; it’s thinking of yourself less. And it’s in that space of surrender where God does His best work.

Also, take note of the second half of that verse: “at the proper time.” God’s timing isn’t ours. He’s never late—but He’s rarely early either. If you’re in a waiting season, don’t waste it. He sees you. Stay faithful.
