Why Security in Christ Is the Greatest Gift of All
Phil Robertson loves to say that the rarest commodity on earth is peace of mind. I love that saying and being right here at Christmas I’m betting most of us are just ready to be done and put it behind us. As I thought about Phil’s remarks I started to think about why do we all want that peace of mind? I came to one idea that’s worth considering – security.
If you’re like me you like having some sense of security in your life. Maybe it’s a certain dollar amount in the bank account (maybe not quite as high right now thanks to Christmas), or maybe it’s that job where you feel safe or it could be found in some cold forged steel (come to a live event to get your fix of all things that go boom). However, the older I get the more I recognize that the only truly secure thing any of us has is our relationship with Christ.
Material items come and go, and while I pray you have a great Christmas, my fear is that many will miss the joy of the season as there is a void of peace of mind because of the misalignment in security of this world. If you’re feeling that disconnect I encourage you to turn to Christ, tune into what we are promised when we surrender to Him and make Him Lord and Savior of your life.
