Finding Joy Through Service This Season
Like most of us, when I come out of Thanksgiving my immediate thought gravitates toward Christmas. It really is an amazing time of year and yet since starting The Lion Within Us so many items have gotten clearer in my journey. The idea of seeking ways to serve others strikes me as the most salient truth. I’ve reflected often about our mission trip to Appalachia and what still amazes me is that me, and many of the men that came with us, came back feeling more blessed than we thought possible.
The goal of our trip was to serve others, and that we did, yet along the way we discovered an incredible gift that came through the love the people we were helping showed to us. My encouragement is that as you enter this stressful time of year I pray you, as a Christian leader, strive to find ways to do good whenever you can. It will rarely be convenient, it may cost you more than expected, yet the return of joy cannot be matched with anything this side of heaven.
I pray that Proverbs 3:27 rings true for the entire month as you make decisions each day to be obedient to the Holy Spirit and unleash the Lion Within!
