In this episode:
It’s been said that we are a sum of the 5 people we hang out with the most.
While that is debatable one truth in God’s Word clearly tells us to be careful of the company we keep. Now this does not mean to close ourselves off and not love others as that is the Great Commission and we should be walking that out daily.
What it does emphasize is the importance of being intentional on where you spend your time growing as a person and who you are with. In the meat episode this week we sit down with a 19 year old young man and get his insight on the pressures his generation faces daily and how he leans on God constantly to guide his decisions.

Do not be misled: 'Bad company corrupts good character.' Click To Tweet1 Corinthians 15:33
We’ll talk about perseverance and mentorship. And I had a friend of mine, Mr. Mr. Ethan. Good. Come along and. Really impact a lot of knowledge. Now we had a lot of verses, a lot of verses we unpack. So let’s, I’m going to give them to you one at a time. Right? And that way you can take this week, you can study them, you can put them at some minimum in your heart.
These are really good verses to study and to make part of your everyday walk number one, first Corinthians 1533. It’s a great verse. Do not be misled bad company corrupts, good character that the whole point about do not be misled means there’s a lot of deception out there, guys. There’s a lot of things that are going to be, they’ll be attacking your mind.
That may look fruitful, but they’re not. So our Lord is telling us he’s causing in us. We have to take that for real. Be careful of that company because it can corrupt your character. The next verse, we’re going to go to James chapter one, two through four. This happens to be my life verse and it’s considered pure joy.
My brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance and let press a virulence finished its work so that you may be mature and complete. Not lacking everything. Now, the crazy part about that verse is the first fourth words, consider it pure joy.
Like how are you supposed to consider it pure joy? Well, you’re going to do that through the strength that Jesus gives you because you get stronger. When you have those trials, you know, we don’t grow, you don’t get stronger at the gym, a better runner if you just do the same thing every day. You have to stretch.
It has to be hard. You have to persevere. And when that happens, God. You will get better. You will improve your life and you improve the lives around you. Great verse. I’m so glad Ethan brought that one up. Then we talked about Hebrews. We went in chapter 10, verse 36, and it says you need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
That’s a great promise out there. You know what? If you’re not just stick to it. And I found doing what God wants me to do our Hab that reward. So guys, come on, stick with it. I know it’s hard. I know it’s tough, but that’s, that’s some scripture right there to give you some assurance of confidence and just get you pumped up that you can do it.
And the last verse we talked about was in Galatians chapter six, verse nine, let us not become worry in doing good for at the proper time, we will reap a heart. If we do not give up, that should be on a t-shirt just do not give up. It probably is. You know, where they got it. The Bible come on now. So look, don’t become worried.
I know it’s tough. I get it. I got three kids. I know it’s tough. I know you’re tired. Every day is a battle every day. You know, where you get your strength to strength comes from the Lord. That’s where you’re going to get it. You got to take some time to spin in the word, take these verses, storing your heart.
When a tax come, pull them out and use those to fight using the fight. So this is what you can expect. It’s a big conversation coming up on Wednesday. We’re going to talk about your circle. How do you make sure you get the right people in it? Okay. And then we’ll also talk. If you got a hyena that goes in that circle, that lines, then how do you get them out?
Well, how do you help that brother? So that maybe he can flip from a hyena to be in that line that we want to roll with. Right. So some great insight that Ethan gave there. I met a young man living his life. He, he he’s in the throws 19 years. He’s got a lion’s den, but his lions is going to change over time.
It’s naturally going to, so he’s got to be rooted and who he is as a Christian, as a man, if he stays true to that, there’s nothing but good things that are going to happen. Just like Corinthians James Hebrews and Galatians talked about. Okay. Then we also talked about perseverance mentorship. Those are a couple of areas that we really dug deep into.
And if you don’t have a mentor, you’ll hang with us, come back Wednesday, listen to how Ethan took some Titchenal steps to find a mentor. Okay. Cause I mean, there’s, it’s so important to have those wise men they’re speaking into our lives. And guys, this is just not for 19 years old. If you’re 20, 25, 30, 30.
40 who, however old you are, you need mentors, period. I have mentors. I have guys I can go to right now and under, they’re going to give me the unfiltered truth, but I also know they care about me as a man and they know my values. So their advice is golly advice, and that is what we need. And the last thing we really talked about a lot.
The daily habit of reading your Bible cannot emphasize that enough. You gotta be in the word. The word is a sword, but if you’re not in it, your sword looks more like a butter knife. You gotta be in it because if you get in it, you get it stored in your heart guys. That’s what we’re here for. We’re here to help you with that.
And the question I want you to think about this week, do you have wise mentors? Into your life today. If you finish this podcast, could you pick your phone up and call a man that knows the Lord? That is spiritually sound that is mature in his walk. And it’s going to give you advice that actually is going to make you a better Christian.
Can you make that phone call right now? If you can’t really pray on that, seek that man. You need that man in your life. Okay. So come back with, it’s gonna be a great episode.
