In this episode:
This week has been all about servant leadership and legacy.
As you think about both of those and how they are shaping up in your life we want you to be encouraged. Jesus was the ultimate leader and demonstrated true humility in everything He did. Through His example of leadership we all have a model to strive towards wherever we are in life.
We cannot have fear and confusion in our life and to be able to lead others. Click To TweetChris Grainger
So our fund. Why don’t we open up with a little bit of scripture. So for Psalm 23, the Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want, he makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his namesake. Even though I walked through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me, your rod and your staff.
They comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love kindness will follow me all the days of my life. And I want to, well in the house of the Lord forever, the guys on our spiritual kickoff on Monday, we really broke this scripture down to provision protection and promises that God gives us.
Right. There’s some really spent a lot of time talking to him about that. So go back, check out that spiritual kickoff cause that this scripture can really give us a lot of hope. A lot of hope is Christian man. Cause guys, we live in a dark. We’re fighting a battle every day. I know you’re fighting it. I’ll find it with you.
But guys, there is scripture. And if you have this scripture, you have the tools to defeat safe to say that again. If you had the scripture, you have the tools to defeat sate. As he wants you to fail, he wants your marriage to fail. He wants your kids. He wants everything to go bad for you, but you know, We can defeat him.
You have the holy spirit guys it’s right in your heart. You got it, but you gotta tap into it. And remember, we were talking about sheep, sheep. If he’s our shepherd that makes us the sheep sheep need to be able to hear their shepherd. And the only way you’ll be able to hear your shepherd is spending some time in the word.
So guys, as we’ll look back and we had that conversation with Mike Kelly, what a powerful conversation, go back, check it out again. He really talked about a couple of things I want to highlight here real quick, the requirements from a servant leadership standpoint, make your team free of fear and confusion.
It’s very important. We cannot have fear and confusion in our life and to be able to lead others, make it free of anxiety. Intention. You need to remove that, get that out of your life, not to be able to serve and lead others. You have to get it where they don’t have the anxiety intention around. You had to be free to grow and learn very important.
We all want to strive for what’s the next thing in our life. We obviously want to strive for what God wants for us in our life. So we need to make sure our lives are ready to grow and learn. And then we need to make sure we’re free of destructive relationships. You know what guys, when he decided to walk with Jesus, sometimes you need to make decisions and those decisions may be, I don’t need to be hanging out with people I use.
And they can be hard decisions you have to make, and you need to love them. We’re called to love, but you have to make sure you’re careful. Be very careful here. Now, Mike did a phenomenal job. He also talked when he was talking about trust and I love this is his description of trust. Trust is character plus competence, right?
When you have character and you have competence, you can have trust and it will build, it will. Wonderful points there. So Mike on pact eight on of wisdom, but again, we went through a lot of scripture, go back, check out that episode. It was a fallen down back. So for this week, let’s get into our tips. We have a health tip, a wealth tip, and a self tip on every fun Friday.
So from a health standpoint, here’s what I want you to get us thinking about, to be a servant leader, to be, to work on your legacy. You need to be proactive and prepare your body to lead. You know, that takes some attention hourly. You got to put some items in your life to strengthen your mind and your body, because God may call you to do certain things as a servant leader.
And if you don’t have this physical strength to be able to do it, you won’t be able to fulfill what he’s called you to do. So you have to take action. How do you do this? Couple of areas, obviously, exercise that is important for us. Bible reading, spending time in the word, devotionals, you know, learning what you can.
And then one that I think a lot of us guys miss rest, we have to make sure we take time to rest, because if we’re going to live a healthy lifestyle and be able to serve God to the ultimate highest, be that servant leader that Jesus showed in everything he did and leave a legacy that we will be proud of.
And that five generations from. We’ll still be thinking about and have that legacy. You gotta take care of yourself, guys, and it’s up to you to take that intentional act right now. There’s your health tip wealth tip. You need to protect that legacy to a really strong degree with a we’ll get a will power of attorney living will all that needs to be in place.
If you do not have that, make that a priority this week to get the. Hey guys. I know you may think it was more Baton. I don’t want anything to think about death, but here’s what guys, if you’re alive, there’s a hundred percent chance that you’re going to die. That death rate is pretty high. So unless Jesus comes back beforehand, then you don’t have to even worry about it.
But right now you need to protect your loved ones with a will do not leave it up to the states, to the government to determine your assets and how things would get divided. Be proactive here. There’s nothing that shows low. Quite as much as taking a proactive stance and leaning into this, okay, get the paperwork done because your wife, she needs to know what your desires are.
And together, if you sit down and you iron this out, if something happens, you’re going to take that level of anxiety that something happened way down and there’ll be able to focus on grieving for the loss versus trying to figure out what to do. Show love right now. Make it through you have that will to have fraternity in place.
So there’s your wealth tip, self tip it’s self-assessment town. Guys. You need to get real with yourself today. What needs to change in your life to live the life that your wife, your kids, your great, great, great, great grandkids are going to see, and they’re going to be proud of, right? So what’s in your daily walk.
What fruit are you? Are you showing the fruit of the spirit? Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness. Self-control. Are you showing that in everything that you do is that going to leave a legacy that you desire? What about the way you speak to your wife? Right now? Your kids are watching.
Is that only the legacy you need to do a self-assessment take the mirror out, go sit down somewhere. Quiet. Maybe go into the woods, go sit in nature and do a self assessment of where you’re at now. Guys, you may be crushing it. Great. But there’s probably one or two areas, just like it is plenty of my life where I need to be intentional.
I need to put some focus on this to really work towards being the man that I need to be, to be the leader of my family, to serve others and to lead the legacy that I want. So there, your three tips, be proactive guy, get that body right. You got to get that mind, right. Get that wheel in place. And it’s self assessment.
You need to do a self-assessed. Now the book of the week we’re going to be talking about for this week is the legacy journey by Dave Ramsey, phenomenal book.
