In this episode:
Chris examines how these verses impact him
He also provides insight into three areas to consider when you think about this scripture:
- TRUST – that means removing all doubt! How hard is that for men! Without God it is impossible and the beauty is through spending time with Him, study His word, Praying, Talk to Him, be around His people we can build trust in our lives.
- UNDERSTANDING – let’s face it we all like to have a good understanding of things in general! Are you willing to get uncomfortable and succumb to the fact that you may not understand areas around you BUT you trust Him enough to stay the course?
- SUBMISSION – Another hard area for guys! You are either going to give God the chance to direct your steps or not. Think about what Jesus submitted for us – His blood for our wretchedness! That’s manly and that is our model.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Click To TweetProverbs 3:5-6
This week are wanting to focus on Proverbs three, verses five and six. Now you guys probably know this. Okay. For those that, that don’t know it. Get ready as a great one. Proverbs three, verses five and six trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean, not on your own understanding in all your ways, submit to him and he will make your past straight.
Tell you what guys, what a powerful verse. And it’s actually two verses, but one sentence. Okay. It’s broken down. That’s just the way that the Bible breaks it down, but they’re usually these two verses are usually unpacked. You know, and it’s a beautiful simplicity in this message. But before we get to breaking that message down, I want to make sure we cover on our spiritual kickoff, who wrote it, you know, who wrote this, this proverb itself while Solomon, he was the wisest man who ever lived right him.
And he, he prayed for wisdom. God blessed him with that. And I will give you some, uh, points of context here from Solomon for all the different Proverbs he had first Kingsport, 32 says he spoke. Thousand Proverbs. Wow. And he also created 1005 songs. I mean, this dude was busy speaking provers, writing songs all day.
All right. I mean, it’s just imagine that, but I’ll tell you what, when he spoke the wisdom that God provided just poured out of him, you know? So this is a great proverb to break down. I’m going to break this proverb down into three sections as I studied it and prayed about. I did some research and gas.
This how I do it. I’m not the illusion. I just go do my research. And I find scripture to, you know, either to guess would like to focus on or off. Thanks. Be a good scripture to week. And I just do some research and see what I can find. In fact, if I can find meaningful ways to unpack that scripture for you.
So when I started researching Proverbs three, five, and six, what jumped out to me was trust, understanding, and. Okay. So we’re, we’ll Bumble break it down to that way. So, first of all, trust, you got to remove all doubt, guys, you got to move all your data out of it, a heart full of trust. Can’t doubt, you know, and how hard is that for me in with, you know, without God though, it’s impossible.
So, you know, back in sales, call on a customer, you could do 99 things. I mean 99 things. Right? And the other thing you mess up, what are people gonna remember? They’re gonna remember the thing you messed up. Right. You know, because it’s just the way we are and we can’t do this thing called life on our own.
We just can’t. Our father wants us to trust him. And how do you trust him? You spend time with him. He just wants your time. Study his word, pray, talk to him, be around his people. That’s how you fully trust. You have to embrace everything he is providing you to help you grow. You know, he wants your complete heart has no plan B just playing God.
So you have to really lean in and trust. And I know this is hard. This is hard for a lot of gas. If you say the word trust and guys get tense, but this trust stuff, I’ll just tell you trust and the Lord with all your heart. Just let that sit on your heart for a minute. What would that look like for you?
What does it look like for me? But you have to trust in the Lord with all your heart. Second part, understanding who likes to have a good understanding of things in general, both hands are raised up here for those on YouTube. I love understanding what’s going on, you know, because this is an area that I’m pretty weak.
If I don’t understand something or really have a good grass, a Cray. Stress anxiety. It just, I could feel all those triggers going off when I don’t understand something, you know, that’s. So for me, that’s where, you know, I really need, and I try to, to try to control things and that’s where I get into trouble, you know?
And that’s where God is trying to teach me here with this verse. You know what I’m trying to control my future or understand about it. That’s an uneasy feeling. And I just, I hate it. I just don’t like it. I don’t like that. But what if God’s got something planned for you or for me, and for our future, that we have no clue with how to proceed, right?
Are you willing to get our comfortable and succumb to the fact that you may not understand areas around you, but you trust him enough to stay the course you are. I think about podcasting, you know, two years ago I was listening to podcasts, asked for two years, I have to show. Trying to serve people is they don’t relatively will the downloads, all that stuff.
It seems the feedback’s been great, but I’ll tell you what getting started was scary. I didn’t understand a lot about podcasting there’s from a technology standpoint, how to interviews work, what is the best way to conduct them? You know, what, how do you do the whole post production thing? How do you get the messages out there?
There’s so much, it, it, it could have been crippling. So I just leaned in. I said, God, I don’t know. And God provided the people, the ideas, the, the material to slowly learn his plan. And he revealed thanks a little bit at a time. No, we didn’t come at the gate was stellar pie cash right out the gate. You know, we had to learn, we had to grow and we lean on him for understanding.
So that is key. That understanding comes from God. You know, we have to put our trust in him and then we have to, you know, trust him enough to stay the course. Yeah, this is one thing just to trust them, but then we have to actually fall through a state. Of course, which leads me to the third point. Submit, submit another hard area for guys.
You either going to give God a chance to direct your steps, where you’re not smarter to you have the choice, but this isn’t our only one that’s convenient type decision here, guys. That’s not the submission we’re looking at. You had to think about what Jesus did. What did that submission look like for Jesus?
You know, picture him on the car. On the cross blood running is his body slang. He did that for our wickedness, for our wretchedness. There does centers that we are, that’s mainly, that’s our model full submission, you know, in this, this area, this holds back so many man for volunteers. Pride is a tool that Satan uses well gas.
Don’t miss that pride as a tool to say news as well. Sit that prophesied. Be proud to call yourself a Christian SA stand with the Lord, because I’ll tell you why there is no better place to be standing with the Lord. So talk about the trifecta of anti do messaging here, Chris. You’re really winning them over.
Guys God put this on my heart. Trust, understanding and submit. I know those are the three words that you guys probably don’t like, but I’ll tell you what he will bless you. And he is your father. And if you lean into this so many areas of your life will be improved. I can promise you that the stress you feel, the anxiety you have, all those negative emotions will transform it to beautiful peace that we strive.
It is possible. I promise you that that is possible. So guys, trust in the Lord with your own heart, lean, not on your own, on your own understanding and our you ways submit to him and he will make your path straight as beautiful. It’s that should give you a ton of encouragement going into this week. So for this week, which you can expect, we want to have a, a guest.
Who’s been through a lot he’s shares. He’s going to share a ton of insight and ideas or that he’s learned for his career fatherhood marriage for success. And I guys, I think they’re going to find ways throughout his story, that you’ll be able to apply in your life to make a big impact on how you lead your family, how you lead your kids, your wife, your work, people around you.
So the question that I want did you guys think about this week? I robbed this question and I modified it from a friend of mine that I go to church with. His name is Daniel. So Daniel, if you’re listening, shout out to you. The question is, would you be found guilty of being a Christian at work and at home Gaz?
S very convicting. I can’t say that I always will be found guilty. How was in a meeting with a gentleman and he found out I was a believer and we have been immediacy gala for years. And. Put the connection together and he shared it. He was a believer. We both felt terrible. You know, we’ve been believers in a same room meeting together and we didn’t know it.
Does that hit you? Should the, does your family see your Christian walk every day? Does your neighbor, uh, the people that you interact with at a restaurant, your people at work, people there, cash. Every time you step out of your house, you’re in a mission field. Will he be found guilty of being a Christian?
So think about that. So there you go, guys, there’s your spiritual kickoff? What a week stuffed in a really, I hope gets you going share this with others.
