In this episode:
What do you think of when you hear the word “Comfort”?
Do you think you can experience comfort in a trial? In this Spiritual Kick Off Chris reviews what the apostle Paul was teaching about how to take the troubles that come our way and use them to comfort others. We must remember that God is our sole source of comfort and He loves us more than we can understand.
who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. Click To Tweet2 Corinthians 1:4
We’ll be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. Beautiful verse. I love it. Now, remember, we need to understand where these books are in the Bible, right? So where is second Corinthians? Well, after first Corinthians and then somebody just played a drum in the background, right? I know guys, it’s not a fun Friday.
I shouldn’t be doing dad jokes, but seriously, come on. Where, where is SA Corinthians? Go to your gospels? That’s the beginning of your new Testament? Matthew mark, Luke and John. Okay. Then go past acts. Go past Romans. Then once you get past Romans, you’ll have first and second Corinthians. Okay. And Paul, he’s the author of both of these books.
Okay. Remember Paul wrote a ton of the new of the new Testament. So he was writing to the church at cornea. Okay. So that was a church that was an actual place. Where, where a church was. Now, when you look at this verse, what do you think of when you hear the word? Comfort? Okay. Comfort. I did the good old G to G go to Google and I saw what here’s, what, here’s what the, what Google says for, for a definition.
Okay. It says a state of physical ease and freedom from pain or constraint and the easing or alleviation of a person’s feelings of grief or distress, distress, excuse me. So we all like it, right? When, when, when, when we experience comfort, who doesn’t like that, I mean, come on serious. There’s even comfort chairs, right?
Where we just get, we can get relaxed. Right. And Paul is telling us to find comfort in the trials that we will face. That doesn’t make a lot of sense. Find comfort in the trials. Cuz here’s the thing about trials guys. If you don’t know this, you are either him one coming outta one or getting ready to go into one.
You just may not know it. Okay. And the closer you follow Christ. Listen to this, the more attacks will come bottom line. How, but however, this is not all doo and gloom. God is our sole source of comfort and he loves us more than we can understand. So guys, comfort is not found in food, alcohol, tobacco, drugs, sex, money, other people, right?
It’s not found those places. Pornography, all these things that just pull at the Christian life. It ain’t there. That’s worldly thinking. Lions recognize that comfort comes from God. And this is what separates the men from the boys. Now, if you’re listening to this podcast, you are a man. You need to step up and act like one.
You know, boys shake when a, during a trial, when it gets really, when it gets really real. Men stand firm, boys bow down before men, men bow down before God, you didn’t go through what you went through for no reason for no, you, you went through to mold shape sharpen. You said she could comfort someone that is suffering right now.
Cause what a powerful last part of the scripture Paul’s telling us right here, we. We will be able to come to give them the same comfort God’s given us. I mean, just let that sink in, soak in guys. How in the world is that possible? Unbelievable. I’m gonna tell you how it’s possible. The holy spirit, the holy spirit, and fully surrendering to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
You will be able to have that power to comfort others the way he does your scars. Tell a story just as Jesus scar. Told his, they don’t define us. They didn’t define him, but they led to opportunities to serve others and to comfort others and to help them grow, learn from those scars, grow closer to Christ, know that he is a source of comfort that we need him all the times and share that with others and help him in their time of need.
Don’t be quiet. We need lines roaring louder than ever, ever stand firm. In the fact that through your suffering, you are now poised better than ever to offer comfort to others. That my friends is what being a lion is all about. So second Corinthians one, four, he comforts us. In all our troubles so that we can comfort others when they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us guys that should have you so excited and ready to serve this week to go out, to stand firm and make a difference in the world.
You know, guys, I’m, I’m trying every week to serve you with the information you need to grow. Now come back on Wednesday, cuz what we got got a special thing going on Wednesday. We’re gonna cover a lot.
I want you thinking this week, where are you seeking comfort in your life? Now I mentioned a list a little bit ago, food, alcohol, tobacco, drugs, sex, money banks, pickup trucks, motorcycles, boats. Where are you trying to seek comfort? Cause if it’s not in the Lordship of Jesus Christ as your savior, guys, you’re gonna miss it.
You’re gonna totally miss it. And we cannot miss this. I don’t want you to have an attorney separated from God and guys as lions. We should not want anyone, anyone to face. And we had the power to help them to bring them to Christ, show them the fruit, show them how a lion, how a man of Christ should live his life.
Lean into this. Take this seriously, guys, you only get one shot of this life. One shot make a difference. You know what? When, when guys are watching. They may not know that you’re a man of faith. That you’re a believer that should tell you something because it should pour out of you of how much your love for Christ is.
It should just, it should be there. The fruit should be there. And then that should spark. And then the holy spirit will do just let the holy spirit do his thing. We’re here to serve, be ready, step up, act like a. Right guys. I hope you enjoyed your spiritual kickoff. Come back on Wednesday telling you this conversation.
