In this episode:
When you point your finger remember there are 3 pointing back at you!
In the world we live in the idea of accountability is something most people run from. As leaders we must recognize the importance of being a leader and what that should look like for us and our testimony.
We had a guy recently jump in the community looking for some scripture around what does it look like to be victorious and live a Christian life. We pointed him to scriptures as well as a previous episode and that gave him the… Click To Tweet Chris Grainger
We, Tim, talking about this all week, but it’s out of the book of Romans chapter 1412. So then each one of us will give an account of himself to. That’s really a verse about accountability. Again, if you missed the spiritual kickoff, go back. That’s two episodes prior to this. Listen to that, really dove into that deeply, and I think there are some areas in there that you’ll be able to apply directly to your walk.
Now, if you missed our conversation on Wednesday with Cujo, the, the former, uh, fighter pilot , you missed a phenomenal conversation. We talked about how you can, uh, debrief to win at home. So he took some things that he learned in the. From a, from the Air Force, from fight, from from flying fighter jets, and he applied those to his home life into business as well.
And guys, what a phenomenal conversation. Just what an impactful story he has and I wanted you to definitely go back and check that out. We’ve unpacked so much wisdom and insight that I guarantee you will make an impact no matter where you’re at in life now. If you’re not in our community yet, you know you’re really missing an opportunity here, guys.
We’re having guys jump in all the time. Just, just today. We had a guy jump in and, and talked about. He was looking for some scripture around what does it look like to be victorious and live a Christian life, right? Just what does it look like? We were able to point him directly to some specific scriptures as well as a podcast that we had previously recorded here on the line with.
That really gave him the resources he needed. Now he’ll be able to go out and, and have this conversation with others cuz he’s prepping for a conversation that he was hoping to, to bring forth. I believe that it was at his church, but he, he was able to ask in an environment that he knew, he would get open and honest feedback.
There was no judgment, there was nothing like that. There was just simply, Hey guys, I got this going on. And what, what do you. What does scripture say about this? Well, what do you guys do with, uh, how do you guys address this situation? And you, when you ask that in the line within this community, guys are gonna rally around you, they’re gonna put their arm around you, they’re gonna be like, here’s what I’ve learned, brother.
Here’s what I, here’s, here’s what, uh, the Holy Spirit is revealed to me. And then you’re able to take that and implement it. So guys, again, the only way, the only way you’ll be able to connect with us for our live. Ask me anything events. Our Bible study or our lion lunches, our mastermind, our courses, all the content, all the other things that we’re putting, that we’re building to serve you is in the community.
So I highly encourage you to go there to line within us. Again, it’s a 30 day free trial. Just check it out. You literally have nothing to lose and see if you have value in it, go jump in it. See? And if you just get in the game, I guarantee you, you’re gonna find items inside the c. That will serve you well.
So I hope to see you there. So now we’re going on, on Fun Fridays. We’re gonna do our health, wealth, and self tips, right? So let’s just roll through these. So our health tip, our first health tip of 2023, I want you guys to think about your health goals. And now Kujo and I, we talked a lot about accountability and then that’s important.
Find you an accountability person for your health goals. Notice I said health here and not just, just workout. Because a lot of times, guys, we think about health, we think strictly workout, workout stuff and yeah, we, we need help with our workouts. I totally get that. Uh, and that, cuz that will push you. I mean, if you wanna work out hard, get more out your workouts, work out with someone and you’ll see Exactly.
See what I mean? But I want you to take it a step further and define other areas like your food or your dietary goals, and then let this support, let those, your support person, that your accountability. Be along with you for the journey. Okay? This will likely for, for those types of goals, it would probably be your wife, to be honest.
And it could be like very simple like, you know what? I wanna reduce my, my sugar intake this year and I need you to help me stay accountable in this area. This asking that question, you know, cuz you just, just give her that opportunity or whoever that account accountability person is that opportunity to help you.
So winning in your. We’ll take teamwork. It’s not something you’ll be able to do on your own. There’s some things you just have to do, like you do have to do the workout. Nobody can do the workout for you, but you, you can have accountability around you to help you achieve those health goals. So, 2023, and now everybody’s big on their goals and what they want to do, yada, yada, yada.
Put some plans in place. Put some, some vehicles in place here that will help you achieve them. Okay? Now your wealth tip for this, for this. With all this talk about debriefing, you know, we’re talking about debriefing in light with Cujo. This is a great time of year to just step back and take a holistic look at your finances.
Okay? For, for, for what you need to understand, first of all, is what goals do you define, have defined around your wealth? You know, as you look across that horizon, take the time to understand your data completely. Cuz if you do that, you’re gonna be able to make wise decision. Particularly, you know how to move forward in the future.
Okay, so building wealth does not happen by mistake, so take the time at the beginning, right here, beginning of this year, have that hard reset and ensure you’re headed down the path that you desire. Again, guys, we can get so caught up into minutiae of just working, working, working, working. We’re just dumping money, dumping money, dumping money, and we never step back to understand, Hey, am I investing in what I’m supposed to be investing?
Are these investments panning out the way that they, that we had hoped? If not, do we need to curtail some of this and start leaning over here? You can’t have any of those conversations if you don’t take the time to step back and understand the lay of the land. Okay? So do that. Just take that time, this time.
Here’s a great time to do that now. Self tip, encouragement builds accountability. Your wife, your and your children. They need accountability. And the way in which you show up as the leader will impact their view of that greatly. So how often are those in our house hearing you build them up versus tearing you down?
Tearing them down. If they’re only hearing criticism, that’s not building ’em up. Now just think about, let’s say you and your wife drive separately to a sports event for one of your. For some reason you had to drive separately. Think about this, the game’s over, whatever it is, boys to girls, I don’t care the age range, it doesn’t matter.
Let’s say the game’s over. Okay? And let’s say that your child did not have the greatest game. Just just lay that out. Who at that moment are they gonna choose to ride home with now, if that’s gonna always be a 100% I’m riding home with. What does that say about how they view you, particularly around criticism or feedback?
Okay. Now I’m not saying we have to celebrate when things go wrong. Nope. But what I am saying is be careful with our words. As the leader, you have a tremendous amount of power at your fingertips and how you choose to utilize it, oh man, it’s going to shape your children so much. So try leading with encouragement.
Use those encouraging words first, and then watch how their own level of accountability will naturally increase. You know, if they go two for four, that’s great, but you know, you could just say, you know what? I just love watching you play the game. It’s so much fun to see you smile out there on that field or out there on that court, whatever it is.
You know what? Your attitude, the way the, the, the, the, the type of teammate that you are just brings me so much joy to see you just lean in and be that teammate that, that, that they really need out there versus that individual. Well, you, if, if you’d have just opened your stance up a little bit more and, and done this, you would’ve made that single to a double.
If you’d have just hustled a little bit more, you may would’ve got a hit. At the end of the day, this just, it, it we’re just having some recreation. Sports. Okay, let’s make sure, first of all, that we’re cheering for the, for the first name, not the last name. Let’s get that straight first and foremost. But let’s do some encouragement.
Let’s use encouragement to build up accountability. I guarantee you, if you use encouragement to build up accountability, the dynamic will shift in that relationship and you will. Positive. I guarantee you’ll see a positive, uh, change in behavior and how your children respond naturally to wanting to be accountable themselves.
Just try, try it out. See how, see how it feels, and then send us a message and let us know, Hey, did it work or not? Okay? So they’re your three tips. Your hell tip. Find that account accountability person for your health goals for your well tip. It’s a great time to debrief around your finances. Take that holistic look right now.
And then for your self tip, let’s use encouragement to build accountability. Now, the book of the week, no surprise here it is Debriefed to Win. Here it’s, it’s by, uh, Robert Cujo Esner, our Americans Top Guns Practice Accountable Leadership and How You Can Too. Now this is more of a business book gentleman.
Wanna make sure you guys are fully aware of that. But I will tell you this, there are principles in here that you can apply directly to your. So I highly encourage you to get Cu Joe’s book here. Go through the show notes. We’ll have links there. You can connect with that. We’ll, sauce will be the feature book on our book of the week, page this week.

Just a all around, just a great. Highly support him. Love again, the brief debrief to win, uh, is something we need to add to your library. Now, our dad jokes this week, so dad joke number one.
Now this is, this is submitted by one of our mastermind, uh, one of our, uh, our membership, uh, one of our community members rather. Uh, Daniel Pope submitted this one. So, number one, y’all hear the rumor about country crock butter? Nah, I ain’t gonna. There you go. That’s number one. Thank you, Daniel, for submitting that.
So number two, people don’t think grass will be wet in the morning, but it do. So there you go. Number one, y’all hear the rumor about country crock butter? No, I ain’t gonna spread it. Or number two people, th people don’t think grass will be wet in the morning, but it do. Man has a Tulsa up for me this week, so I don’t know how well I see how I’m, I might have to think about that one.
How. Hello guys. These dead jokes, they’re a lot of fun. We hope they bring you a smile to your face if you’re in our community as well, like Daniel Pope right here, he’s in our community. Uh, these guys get a chance to submit those dead jokes in and we’ll, if we use ’em, we’ll give you a shout out on the show.
So getting the community so you can be part of that as well. Our question a week, this week has, has been around accountability and it’s very simple. Is accountability a dirty word in your family? If it is, okay, I recognize. Now, what are you gonna do to change it? Because it doesn’t need to be a dirty word.
It can really be a word that builds up, not tears down. So guys, I pray that this conversation, this, this fun Friday, serves you well, that you enjoyed the episodes this week around, uh, debriefing to win, accountability, vulnerability, how to be a better man, how to show up at home to lead your family. Well, it’s been an honor, guys.
