This your fun Friday episode. I’m excited to have you here. You made it through the week. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Let’s start off with our scripture, though.

This scripture this week is so powerful, such just, it’s such, such an impactful, uh, scripture that I’m just so glad we were able to spend some time digging into this this week. So we’re in the book of Psalms. 1 39, but we’re looking at verse 16. Okay. Verse 16. In particular, it says, your eyes have seen my formless substance, and in your book were written all the days that were ordained for me.

When as yet there was not one of them, the eyes go back to that spiritual kickoff. I spent a lot of time unpacking that scripture have the story of our lives. What does that look like? Okay. And and understand it. You know what? Even though in our story sometimes doesn’t make sense and we’re struggling with it and it’s just like we feel like we’re alone.

God’s there he is there. You need to remember that for sure. Now, if you missed out on this on the meat episode, go back and check that out. Why? Because Bob Wigley really did a phenomenal job unpacking his book, our Heart’s Desire, and we really talked about a lot of things and around. Uh, the, the cr, the cast of our stories, right?

So start thinking about the cast. You have your author, you have your hero, you have a love interest, you have an enemy. And we just really spent a lot of time unpacking that, right? What, what, what those different roles are, and then how each story you think about it, all the movies that you, that you watch, they all have a similar thread, right?

As usually, you know, you’ll meet the hero, okay? Then there’s gonna be some conflict. Right. Then you’re going, ha, then you’ll, you’re gonna find like, like the, the, the enemy, you know, that’s, it’s gonna come and you’re gonna see who the bad guy is. Usually there’s a guide, there’s gonna be a guide that comes in and helps you.

Then there’s the journey. There’s a journey along the way, and then it also comes down to the end. You’re gonna have that solution where you’re going boom. Right? You have that, that big end scene where, you know, good defeats evil or wherever it goes. Right? And we just need to understand in our stories, They’re very similar, but we’re gonna have a lot of these cycles up and down, up and down.

So he, we just talked about that, but I thought it was pretty cool. Bob was a big, uh, sports guy for sure. I mean, he played, he played baseball professionally. Uh, he played college football for sure. He, he ended up, I think he played for, for USC and, and played at Ohio State one time in, in a big game. So he, he talks about that in his book, but it was just really fun unpacking the story with Bob.

Directly. So I hope you guys got a lot out of that, that you enjoyed that. So be sure to go back and check that one out. It was one, it was one that I, that, that I enjoyed for sure. So let’s get into our fun Friday. I know a lot of you guys are here for your tips and the dad jokes. I know what you’re here for.

So let’s jump into our tips. Okay, so we gotta a health tip, a well tip and a self tip. And I’ll try to kind of line these things up and somewhat this week, if you will, that’s gonna gonna, uh, um, align to our stories. Okay? So the first, first one, a held tip. I want you to slow down first of all, but I want you to just take some time and write down a gratitude list.

Okay? A gratitude list. Okay. So again, if God’s the author he is, and we totally get that, he’s the author. It’s time to get the pen and pad out ourselves, and let’s start writing some gratitudes for things that he has done for us. And maybe you wanna do one for each year of your life. That’d be a great way to start.

Okay? Just, just do one for, and however old you are. If you’re 20 right now, 20. If you’re 30 right now, and 30 if you’re 80, you gotta lot of writing to do. But write it down. So this is going, it’s gonna help. Why’s this gonna help? This is gonna help when the attacks of the evil one comes, when that doubt starts coming in.

When that, um, uh, that fear starts to take place, when that discouragement starts to take place in your heart, if you have some gratitudes that you just know are true, okay. Some things that you are just, God has blessed you with, Satan can’t take that away, right? I think if you’re, if you’re blessed to have a wife, she needs to be right there on top of your list.

As well as first of all, your relationship with Jesus Christ. That’s type your list in your spouse, and if you have any children, your parents, if you can still pick your phone up and hit a button that says Mom, or hit a button that says, dad, that’s a gratitude. That’s a gratitude. Okay. Maybe you can even still hit one that says, grandma, right?

Well, grandpa, that’s a gratitude, right? You have all these things that you should be grateful for, you know, your health, your career. Your, the financial blessings. Maybe you just like your truck, right. Gratitude, write ’em down. There’s a pastor I listen to. You guys know my favorite pastor and he and on his list bourbon.

I just, that’s funny. Cigars is on his list. This is a pastor right now. That shit probably may not, should be on everybody’s list, but for, for him, that’s, that’s something that makes his list, but Right. Take the time to write a gratitude list. I just think that is such an important thing to do, to have those assurances that we can go back to as men.

When things get tough, guys, I get it, man. You are. You’re living it up against it. It is. Things are going to get tough. You know why? How? I know? Because they’re tough for me too, boys. That’s it. It’s gonna get tough, right? You’re going to have those rough dates, right? But you can take the time to remember the blessings that God has given you.

There’s probably a few friends that need to be on that gratitude list, right? And then why don’t you let those guys know or girls know that they’re on their list? Okay, now your wealth tip. I gotta think about this one other day. Cause when, when, if you guys fish and I love going fishing, it’s, for me, it’s just fun.

When you look at a fishing lore, it looks really cool, right? A lot of this, especially if you get some of these big old fancy fishing lores, like they, they have a lot there painted pretty. They have all these, these, these neat features. They definitely look enticing when that thing is going through the water, right?

It’s like, man, that thing just looks cool and it looks cool into the fish, right? Until it finds out a hooks in it. So be careful because some investments out there, if they seem too good be to, to be true, they probably are. So do your re research now. I’m not saying you gotta be a pessimistic attitude, okay?

Don’t go in there always looking for the bad, but do look for the vulnerabilities, particularly when you start make thinking about investments, right? And make sure that you’re doing your homework for yourself. Okay? Cause there’s a lot of flashy things out there. There’s a lot of quick, you know, if you ever hear like we want to get.

And get rich quicker. If you ever think that the, the return is too good to be true, it’s probably is cause you need to find out what this investment, whatever that investment is, that it aligns to your goals, your specific goals. It needs to align to your risk profile. Cuz your risk profile is different than my risk pro profile.

It’s different than your buddies. We all are dif are different places in life. You need to understand what your risk profile is, right? And you also need to make sure we’re. Again, speaking to marriage a little bit, just need to make sure that you are in alignment as a married couple, right? And you. And so if you have that, if you, if you clear on your goals and you have your risk profile figured out, and you and your spouse are aligned on this investment at that point, and then you have some, some peace from the, from the Lord that you know what?

This is a, a, a something that he wants you to lean into, Hey, go get after it. But don’t just chase flashy for flashy. You got to be careful. Guys, again, those fishing lords look great to that bass. He finds out that hook’s in it. All right. Now your self tip. This is one I haven’t done in quite a while. I’ll be honest with you guys.

I, I’d have to go back to when my wife and I were dating. We did this, but here’s the thing. Write a story via text with your spouse. Okay? This could be a fun thing to do and I can self text. This is for your, for your husbands out there. So my wife and I did this a few times we were dating. It was just fun.

So just start, a Texas says that day and you just can say story time and give her one sentence, this is how me and me and Becca did it. And then it’s just a gang of ping pong. And here’s the rule, it just says one sentence at a time. So that’s don’t thing. You have to like write these, like these paragraphs.

It could just be one sentence at a time. And we found out back in the day and when we would do it, All day long, you know, and sometimes you go hours in between a sentence. It’s okay. You don’t have to be continuous. Like we, obviously, you guys got lives, you have jobs doing things like that. But you know what, if you could just do that, at the end of the day, you may have a pretty good, hilarious story.

You know, maybe that’s a, a, a little, uh, provocative story. I don’t know how your story’s gonna go, but it’s just a fun way to kind of check out at the stress of the day, uh, and connect your spouse, do something fun. And then when you get to the end of the day, you read that story, you know, and that’s something that you and her.

Okay. Maybe make, uh, just, just have a little chuckle or like, why in the world did you say this? Right? I remember I had had those couple moments with Becca back in the day, but it’s something fun you can try for sure. So there your three tips, guys trying to stick with that story theme, if you will. But, uh, for sure the hell tip.

Write down that gratitude list. Get, seriously, get on that. If you need to do it in your phone, that’s fine too, but maybe get a pen and paper out. Write down that gratitude list, and I challenge you to do one for every year of your life. Okay, now, your wealth tip. Remember, fish and lores look great till you get that hook in it.

So if you’re going do an investment, make sure that it’s, that it’s aligns to your personal, to your financial goals as well as your spouses. And that you have some peace about this investment. Cause I just don’t want you guys making bad financial decisions just because something looks fancy or just because your buddy’s doing it and a self tip.

Hey, try that story via text with your spouse. See if it’s fun. Maybe it’s, maybe it works for you guys, maybe it doesn’t, but it’s a cool way to try something new. Begin out there. Have a little bit of fun with our wife. Remember Christian married couples, we should be, have the most joy outta all married couples, period.

Right? We’re doing it God’s way, so let’s have a little bit of fun with it. So guys, let us know. Remember, eye rolls count. I do not forget that. I feel like I, I, I need to emphasize that more cuz that’s my litmus test. A lot of these dad jokes. Here’s what I do. I take a dad joke and I get one. I say, Hey Becca. And I’ll tell her this one, if I get a smirk or an eye roll. And checks the box.

A lot of times I get you can’t use that one. So I’m like, dog, go. So some of, yeah, we have to clean it up. We gotta make sure we put good stuff out there for you guys. Kid friendly. Right. But again, uh, let us know which one lands best for you For sure. And as you go through this week, you know, the question we’ve been asking all week to, to you guys is how is your story revealing what you desire most?

So just think about your personal story. Is it, is it really focused on your desires? Or do you have that servant’s heart of wanting to please God? I wanting to do things for him and I pray that’s the case. Now look, it’s not always, I totally get it guys. We are, we sometimes we are our worst enemies, right?

We get in our own way, but just make sure that we understand that the God, he is the author, he is the author, and let’s just be obedient to what he’s called us to do. That’s what we need to do first and foremost. If we, if we listen to him and then we act and obey, guys, you can’t go wrong. That’s a leash in the line within right there.
